Thinking About Your Funeral Wishes

Posted on September 30th, 2021

It is not easy to think about what happens after we pass away, but Freedom Funerals’ Funeral Wishes service can ease your mind, helping to ensure that your funeral is in line with your thoughts and preferences. Not only might this mean that you can be assured that your service will take place in the way you would hope but may also help to alleviate some stress or worry on those you have left behind.

Our service, which is complimentary and available to anybody, has been designed specifically for people who wish to document their funeral requirements. The simple form can be filled in online, or downloaded directly from our website, for you to fill in your details and thoughts in your own time. This includes anything from how you would like to be transported to your service, the music you would like played, flowers, readings, catering at the wake, and more.

Once you send it back, the Freedom Funerals team will review it and check that everything is all in order for you. Of course, we are always here to talk if you’d like to chat anything through or discuss any of the options.

Funeral Plans

You might also be thinking about creating a funeral plan. Slightly different to our Funeral Wishes services, we recommend three companies (Golden Charter, Avalon and Golden Leaves) for pre-paid plans which in addition to recording your preferences for your funeral, also manages a fund which will later be used to cover costs. Saving monies towards the sometimes-high fees that can be associated with funeral services could bring some relief to your worries – as well as those of your loved ones who, once you’re gone, may otherwise have concerns about how they will pay for the necessary arrangements.

Not only that, but making your wishes known and ensuring finances are covered could also reduce the risk of any conflicts between loved ones with different ideas when planning your final service. Talking to your loved ones about your hopes and expectations for your funeral might also help to prepare them for when the time comes, as well as giving them some comfort in knowing they are carrying out your wishes, celebrating your life the way you want.

You may be thinking differently about planning for funerals in ‘the current climate’, even as pandemic restrictions continue to adapt. Bear all current rules and regulations in mind when planning your funeral – but know that even during the pandemic, you can still have your desired send off. Make sure to do your research and have a read on the government website if you are at all unsure.

We, at Freedom Funerals, are here for you – you can read more about funeral plans here, but please do not hesitate to talk to us if you need any help at all at this time. Please do give us a call on 01206 862 963 or email us at info@freedomfunerals.co.uk.
