Removing the financial strain of planning a child’s funeral

Planning a funeral for a child is something that no parent ever wants to contemplate. Here at Freedom Funerals, we have seen first-hand just how traumatic this experience is for parents and the wider family.

That’s why we, and many other funeral directors, waive our fee for children’s funerals to help lift the financial strain on families trying to cope after such a huge loss.

In March 2018, after much lobbying, the government announced that there will be a fund put in place to take away the monetary worry from family members in these terribly sad situations. The fund will ensure that council fees, burial costs and other such expenses will be paid for directly by the government.

Although this has not yet been implemented across the country, it will make the process of organising a funeral for a child simpler and relieve any extra financial concern on suffering families. We hope this change will allow families to grieve for their loved one without further unnecessary stress for families in what is already an unimaginably difficult time.
