Latest Funeral Plans

Posted on July 20th, 2021

As restrictions are lifted, we are ensuring that we keep up to date with the latest rules and regulations for funerals. Read on for the current position…

Attendee Numbers and Venue

After recent updates to the government guidelines, the restrictions on numbers have been lifted and you are now able to have unlimited numbers attend a funeral. We know this will come as a great relief for the families that have lost a loved one as everyone is now able to come together. Wherever it is possible social distancing is still recommended to help manage the risk from COVID.

Face Coverings

It is no longer compulsory to wear face coverings at funerals, however, there are some venues that require a face covering to still be worn and families may ask guests to continue to wear face masks to help prevent the spread of COVID.

Communal Singing

Communal singing is now permitted in churches and in both indoor and outdoor venues. Although some venues, including the Colchester Crematorium, has restrictions on the use of hymn books so hymn sheets will be needed as an alternative.

Travel

If you have guests travelling from a different country, they may be required to self-isolate, and we would recommend reviewing the government website to see the latest updates for travel.

Covid Secure

If you are showing symptoms, have been instructed to self-isolate by the NHS test and trace app or you have tested positive for COVID, you will need to self-isolate and therefore not attend the funeral. Please talk to us about the options for live streaming.

We, at Freedom Funerals, are here for you – please do not hesitate to talk to us so we can guide you through these difficult times and the changing regulations. If you have any questions, please do give us a call on 01206 862 963 or email us at info@freedomfunerals.co.uk.
